Hi people! I\'m sitting here typing on Roger\'s computer while he rests a bit. I seem to have worn him out just a tad. So are you interested in our trip? I still have a few days to go but we\'re in Chesterfield for the next few days and I have access to a computer. I\'ve been seriously going through withdrawls.
We\'ll have pictures up in a week when the trip is over but I have a few now and can tell you what\'s happened up to now.
I got to London the afternoon of the 18th of last month. Roger showed up about an hour after I did. We stayed in 5 star hotels for the first 2+ weeks because I work for a hotel company and could get rooms for $89.00 per night. The first 12 days were in a hotel on Knightsbridge next to Harvey Nichole\'s (just down the street from Harrod\'s). The hotel is ugley from the outside but the inside was really nice and the food was wonderful (even though we could only afford 1 dinner and 1 breakfast there).
We spent the first day in getting to know each other face to face. I guess the first big thing we did was go to the Tower of London a few days after we got in. That was great but it was a LOT of walking and my knees didn\'t hold up well. We also went to Piccadilly Circus and had a wonderful dinner in a resteraunt with some drag queens. Had warm treacle pudding with custard there. Yummmm!
Went to Covent Garden a few times because there is a Cornish Pasty shop there and I knew from my last trip that I loved them. Had a salmon pasty that was just heaven the first time. Lamb and Mint the second time. Right next to the pasty shop is a Thornton\'s chocolate shop. Roger got me some treacle there. I\'m now addicted. I can\'t live without it. The brat.
We met up with Eldintux a couple of days after we got in. He\'s wonderful in life as well as on line. He showed me his and I showed him mine (mini\'s you pervs! Jeez!) Got some good pics of him and Roger that I\'m going to post even though he said not to. The three of us took a walk in Hyde Park and looked and the squirrels and ducks. London grows the fattest pidgeons in the world.
Everywhere we went we took the underground. There are not many stops with elevators so I had to do the stairs. Now I have NO cartalidge on either one of my knees so this was very painful at times. God bless vicodine. On the day after we went to the tower we got off the train at Covent Garden and instead of taking the \"lift\" we took the stairs. 193 of them. Spiral. No landings. I almost died and even Roger was feeling it by the time we went got to the top. We had to rest the next day.
Salute was wonderful (if you haven\'t noticed I\'m not listing all this in order). We met Eldintux half way there and when we got to the Excel Center Tuxie saw Boristhefrog (or was that Roger? He claims it was him). I yelled out to her in a very American way and we had breakfast with her and her husband. We met Undave, Amazon Warrior, Dragonsreach, Squiggy, Squidders, Talonicus (Nigel), Matty, Demonherald, Darkmessiah, Cybersquig, Nick232 (? I can never remember the #\'s. Sorry), Prophaniti, Vincenti (god bless-very nice man BTW), LouW, MickC22, Trevor, god I\'m missing some. I\'m so sorry guys. Anyway, I got pics of most of them.
I gave Kev White his nuts (ask him on FoD. Blame Donna too. We were both involved). Saw lots of really cool minis, got gifts from people including Mike and Tuxie and generally had a grand time. On the way home the stop closest to our hotel was closed so we ended up walking all the way around Harrod\'s (at least a half a mile or more) and then half that again to get to the hotel. Because of that we canceled our plans to go to the eye. I\'ll be here again some time so we can get to it then.
We moved from Knightsbridge over to Mayfair for the last few nights in London (evidently that\'s a big deal. Ask Roger. He\'s rather proud of it). Hotel looked better on the outside but the inside had it\'s issues. THEN Yesterday we took a coach (bus) to Chesterfield and are now staying at a pub/Inn called the Portland. Not the same as the hotels in London but charming anyway.
I\'ll be back in my own bed on the 9th. I\'ll miss Roger deeply and all but it\'ll be nice to see my cats and my son again. Plus I have some liz-justice to hand out here I see.
