Out of My Sketchbook

Due to some of the side effects I've been going through, sitting painting models hasn't been possible until recently.
However rather than do nothing, (chance!) I've been doing some water colour sketches and drawings, since the time taken is a lot less than a painting a model and if "interrupted" (Which had been anything varying from URGENT to IMMEDIATE!!!) there's no risk of screwing up a model or brush.

Since I'm due back to work in a little over a week (Buggar!) I though I'd share some of the better pictures I've done. (Yeah I know, I'm a show off Tart!)

These are character studies of two regular patrons at my favourite coffee shop.

Two flower studies, easy as they keep still long enough for me to draw. Top one was a pale Poinsettia bottom one is apparently called ETHEL!.

These Elephants are freehand copies I made from Magazine photos.
Everything is done either with Water colour Pencils or Water Colours themselves.

Hope you like them.

Those are rather nice, actually. I particularly like the top one. I know it's just a sketch, but it has a kind of nice "Sunday morning" feeling to it. Good stuff :)

ps - I hope the treatment isn't giving you too much gyp. I appreciate that it's no picnic, and kudos to you for sticking with it. Ganbatte!

IIRC it was done on a Sunday Afternoon. Good Call.
As to the treatment, intense stuff's done, just hormone therapy now.
But I had over six weeks of Radiation "trots", which I'm sure glad are over and done with.

Hell No! I don't go to pubs.
Only cater to Karaoke, Football (soccer), Pool or Sky Sports with Gassy Tasteless Yellow Liquid designed to ruin your liver and destroy what little brain cells you possesed in the first place.

When I drink I want to A) have some pallatable intake, B) be comfortable C) be in intelligent company......that means Wine at Home with the missus.

Wonderful work, Mike.
Glad you're coming out the good side on the treatments.

As to the trots, welcome to my world.
Addie & I can sympathize with those symptoms. (Crohn’s is not fun.)

Peg's about got her business taxes to the accountants, the weather is wonderful, you're on the mend - so when you coming over?

Nicely done, I really like the colours. I find it takes a bit of courage to work with watercolours.

I used to draw constantly. Never was any good, but it was very relaxing for me.

Anywho....Your character studies and the elephants are very nice. I really enjoy those types of things. The flowers are well done as well, but it's not a subject I know anything about.

Good to see your on the mend mike.

I like the patron sketches they have a genuine feel to them.
Hmm dunno quite like the pub outside overlooking the manor gardens with the castle on the skyline it's very picturesque the only thing bringing the tone down is me lol. A northerner down south ;) the only thing I don't like is the nearly £5 a pint!!! Grrrrrr!

No such thing as drinking at home; my wife's family are HK a couple of generations back. Degenerate gamblers where betting a couple of large on the gee gees is fine but have a glass of wine and you MUST be an alcoholic?!? Go figure :(

Shawn: both Watercolours and Watercolour pencils (ie soluble pencils).
True story: Over in the UK we have a chain of shops W.H.Smiths, selling papers, stationary , books and whatnot. Went in the one nearest to work one day and saw that they had a sale on "Artists Materials" has a look and there on the shelf is a pocket Watercolour set http://www.artdiscount.co.uk/product/winsor_newton_artists_watercolour_field_box/ priced at £12.00. Yep just about a third of the real price. No guesses about how fast I was in removing from shelf to counter.
Turns out to be a really handy little set.

AndyG : LOL
