PAINT AID Ogre

So, now he\'s done, the Iron Guts standard bearer I\'ve painted for Paint Aid. The pics in the link are much brighter, so check them out as well. I\'ve followed the colour scheme given at the Paint Aid site for the metal, skin, warpaint and base. Hm, I might have added the green ink on the copper parts by myself, I can\'t remember if that was given...but it\'s just green ink, so it\'s easy to copy if anyone would like to. Hope you like him :)

Very nice indeed, a very striking piece, welldone :D. I am not really that familiar with the Orge army so does that helmet come with it or is it something you did yourself ???.

Wow, that looks very good Anja. It will be good to have one to compare my Iron Guts Ogre to. I need to get started on mine, but wait... it hasn\'t arrived yet!:(:(

james, it\'s dark green ink, if you don\'t have that I think you can just mix Dark Angels Green and a little black.

Good stuff as always, Anja! :D The metals look great. One thing I would\'ve done, though, is to put green stuff where the arms are attached to the body.

this ogre is some real wicked shlt! just awesome, the best ogre i\'ve ever seen
i dont know why you painted the horns so \"sloppy\" with 3 or 4 big lines instead of a few more smaller ones, thats the only thing preventing it from gettin a 10
this ogre is a really bad one for everyone else who has to paint an ogre :p

A
i have to agree with you there joshua, the horns do let the model down, they look a bit like a sucked candy cane :D

Ok
Skin: 50/50 GW Shadow Grey/Graveyard Eart, highlight by adding first KOmmando Khaki, then Bleached Bone

Pants: Basecoat VMC Flat Earth, highlight by adding VMC Golden Olive. I think I washed the pants with GW Scorched Brown, but I\'ve been painting so much lately that I can\'t really remeber...

Boots: Basecoat VMC Cadmium MAroon (#859), highlight by adding VMC Red Leather and add a little GW Bleached Bone for hte fianl highlights.

Leather details: GW Snakebite Leather highlighted with GW Bleached Bone.

Steel: Basecoat of Boltgun Metal, wash (a lot) with Chaos Black and Chestnut ink, highlight with Boltgun Metal, Chainmail and Mithril Silver.

Copper: basecoat with Brazen Brass, drybrush Dwarf Bronze, wash heavily with Chaos Black and Dark Green ink, drybrush Dwarf Bronze, then drybrush Dwarf Bronze + Mithril Silver.

Rust: Scorched Brown, stipple on Vermin Brown, stipple on Fiery Orange. HTen I washed the whole metal area wit hBEstial Brown to tone down the orange, before I painted the edges with chainmail or mithril silever in a sort of stripey pattern (see sword blade).

Skulls and teeth on the banner: here I used the same basecoat as on the skin, and then I pretty much experimented with different dab greys, browns (Graveyard Earth) and yellows, but the final highlight was a mix of Bleached Bone and Skull White.

Horns: Basecoat of Bleached Bone, I then washed the horns with bestial brown unitl I gor a nice transition from bone to brown before I painted the stripes in Bleached Bone. I might have given the horns a wash of some yellow colour, like snakebite leather too....

Wood on the pole: VMC Flat Earth basecoat striped with bleached bone and scorched brown.

Wood on keg and shield: basecoat of Grabveyard Earth, wash with Scorched Brown and Chaos Black, then re-highlight with Graveyard Earth and add Bleached Bone for final highlights.

base: GW Sand, wash with Brown Ink, drybrush Kommando Khaki then drybrush Bleached Bone.

*phew* Hope I didn\'t forget anything...it\'s 7.15am here and I haven\'t gone to bed yet :)

EDIT
Warpaint: Regal Blue highlighted with a litlle Bleached Bone

I\'ve sent a personal e-mail and PM\'s about this but I might as well step up and say that I\'m a big fan of this ogre and really wish I had this paint guide in front of me when I started mine. You\'ve got my official nomination for \'Paint Guide Guru\' next time should we ever do something like this again.
