Paint Aid Tyrant

Hi all, ok, so I\'m working on this tyrant for paint aid and there were a lot of questions I had because he has a ton of wargear and I don\'t want to mess him up!!! First of all, here is description of him from our army list:

335 Pts. (1) Tyrant w/ Brace of handguns ( 12pts.), 2 Sword Gnoblars ( 10pts), Luck Gnoblar ( 5pts.), Heavy Armour ( 6pts.), Thunder mace (AKA BFH 55pts.), Spangleshard ( 30pts), Beast killer ( 15pts.)

Questions:

1) Brace of handguns - are there any bits for these, ogre sized that is? how would they be represented?

2)Gnoblars (luck and sword) - do they need to fit on his base? because he\'s not a petite fellow and there isn\'t much room unless they\'re haning out in his crotch.

3) Heavy armor - He already looks more heavily armored than the rest of the figures, does that represent heavy armor or should I stick on some more?

4) Thunder Mace - This is the 2 handed weapon, however reading the army book the description isn\'t much like the bit that comes with the Ogre, is the bit that comes with the Tyrant something else?

5) Spangleshard - ??? wth? I don\'t see this in the book, am I blind?

6) Beast killer - this means wearing horns I gather, of course the horn belly plate and 2 handed weapon don\'t play well together. Do they wear horns in other places?

7) the base - Does wfb require a set base size, because he barely fits on the one provided, is there any room for something larger?

8) Conversions - I\'m not sure the rules for characters in the army, can I work for a more dynamic or dramatic pose? Add horns, add other pieces of \"flare\"?

9) Banner? Do ogres use crude banners, I\'m thinking more a stick with tusks and other \"things\" hanging from it

10) More I may be missing - Anything else about the tyrant I may be missing not having played wfb ever? Details that leaders have?

Thanks All, I\'m just hoping to get some direction on him so I don\'t let the project down with a dud tyrant.

-Eric

PS: I figured I\'d try to justify my first 500 posts with a serious one to wrap them up, in my attempt to prove that all previous 499 were all well through through, and relevant!! :D

Woot!!!

Can\'t answer a single one of your questions, but congrats on reaching Sr. member!

I can\'t clear up every thing but I can answer some of youor questions.

Base: Needs to be the same size.

Conversions: Allowed, as long as they remain co-herent to the miniatures rules. This is strictly for tournaments though so as long as you don\'t go too extreme you can probably get away with a bit. Dymnamic pose is fine.

Brace of Pistols: Uh, maybe the Pirate Maneater?

Gnoblars: Not sure but maybe have them perched on him? Hanging off his belt, sitting on his shoulder, etc.

Banner: Might want to steer clear. Specific models in WFB are allowed to carry banners, your general isn\'t one of them.

Dunno bout the rest. Best of luck to you.

Never fear your friendly naborhood Outrider is here ok here you go eric ( by the way cangrats on 500:) )

1. the pirate man eater is a good place but u could also go with the empire hand guns they would bet pistol size to him the ogres do not make there own equipment they are not the most agile creatures in the world.

2.the luck gnoblars are chousen by size the smaller the less snecky so the are kinda like thous little dogs you see sticking there head out of an old ladys purse:) as for the sword gnoblar they carry the tyrants extra wepons and stuff staying close in case his master needs some thing and just trys not to get accadently massed in the prosses.

3.yep thats heavy armour:)

4. the thunder mace theres a pic under the discription in the book

5. its on pg63 under talismans its a former elven necklace kinda like the one aragon is given in LotR movie which is now chiped and ceroded it gives a ward aganst wounds

6. yes just check out the army book cover

7. if he comes with a 40mm base you can go up to a 50mm but thats it

8. you can do just about what ever you want as long as hes on the right base and has what he is given in the list also just keep in mind he can join units doring the game so you want to limit the amont of proturtions a way from the genral area of the base

9. yes you can give him a trophy rack but would stay a way from a banner

10. you should be good as long as you follow above cant wait to see him

if you have any other question shoot me a message and i will send you my yahoo messenger id good luck

lol honestly the first time I posted this it was titled \"Paint Aid Hive Tyrant\" but I snuck in and edited the title before anyone noticed. That\'s what I get for 3 years of playing the bugs, (and painting 2 armies with and 4 hive tyrants total)

Concerning the gnoblars, the army book states that they must all be on the base of the Tyrant. If you feel that it gets too crowded, then scratch them ;). Just give the guy cool weapons and the futur owner will figure out how to equipe him ;). The gnoblars where there just to spice up the list, but we wouldn\'t want a key figure like the Tyrant to look toppled by puny gnoblars ;).

A trophy rack could be quite cool ;).

Congrats on reaching 500 ;).

Not True!! I fooled myself for a bit

But thanks for the feedback, I\'ve developed a couple fun ideas for the tyrant.

Another question though:

Would it be a waste of time (or out of line with the goal of the project) to create a display base for him? After reading the description of his weapon I was thinking it\'d be neet on this display base to have a crater impact look from where he struck with his hammer or something. It\'d be complete display and he\'d be removable from it of course

If its removable, I don\'t see why not. I would go for it, as the goal is to give something that is completely unique and looks outstanding as well with all you top dog painters out there (that\'s compliment).

Besides, I\'ll be surprised if this actually turns out to be a game army, and if it does, you can bet that the individual that gets it will murder anyone that even things to touch his babies.

Eric, you already know my opinion on your displays ;). If you are sure to have the time to do it (remember deadline : 14th of Febuary) and as you said it\'s removable then I think you should go for it ;).

Wow, um, feb 14 huh...I haven\'t even gotten the mini yet...how did I miss seeing the deadline? And it\'s the 14th to get back to UK? so I should be mailing him back....tomorrow to get him there in time?

now I\'m a little more worried...

@Eric : The 14th of Febuary is the date we would like to start seeing the minis come back. We have planned a delay for overseas people and transport casualties. But do try to finish it as soon as possible ;). For example, you could already start the display while you\'re waiting for the mini ;).
