Paint-Along possibility?

I’ve been wondering if people (especially newbies to the hobby) would be interested in a Paint-Along.
Basically a Paint-Along would be a group of painters who purchased a relatively cheap figure (the same one)... decided on a color scheme, and then had a certain amount of days to complete each section, or part, or layer... then post up pics for comparison...
We would decide on priming color, basecoat, etc... (Using various paints to get as close to the same color schemes as possible) and then have a few days to build the mini together. Comparing notes, techniques etc until we completed the project.

Sounds like an interesting idea but there\'s no way I\'d be able to take part. I\'m just not able to schedule any painting time at all and just grab the odd hour every week or so in between working, shopping, parenting husbanding etc

I would certainly be interested in this, as long as the pace is quite slow.

One stage per week maybe.

Life is busy, and I don\'t always get as much time to paint as I would like.

I have a bunch of these old-school lizardmen that I picked up a couple of years ago on eBay.

They\'re plastic, and somebody primed them already (some black and some green). There are some minor variations in the face and weapon, but for the most part they are identical.

I\'ve tried a couple in the past, but the fine detail (and my own inexperience) made it too hard for me at the time.

I\'d be willing to mail out a few of these for a paint-along, if you want to try it?

Where are you guys? U.S.?

metal might be better then plastic since its easier to clean em.. dip them in turp and scurb em..

The lizard figures are cool. not sure what those things are on the skin.. or are they wearing armor?

Reaper makes figures that go for about 4 dollars..definitely not to expensive IMO.

Fastest way for me to clean my minis..if i dont want em sitting in Pine-sol over night..

washes the acrylic and prime coats off 1-2-3..so i can go back to fudging up again.

I buy the paint thinner at Walmart for like 4 bucks for a big jug..then buy a packing jar with/lid at like Michaels..I pour the thinner into the jar and then throw the mini in and close the jar..come bck in like 10 mins or so and brush the mini with a old toothbrush under running warm water.. then i use soap to wash the mini one last time.

I use the same paint thinner in the jar until is black..then I pour away.

Obviously this is only for metal figures. =)

I think they\'re supposed to be bony plates or something. I don\'t know for sure.

Reapers are cool with me, but there\'s no one nearby who carries them. I\'d have to make a special trip, or order online. I have easier access to Games Workshop stuff locally.

I do have about 20 Reaper figs still in blisters. Should I post a list? Or did you have a specific figure in mind?

The previous 3 classes that have been run:
Shawns OSL Class
Klutes skin class
and
Pythia of Azel

GW figs are these most readily available to the most people. The other idea is picking up something from the CMON shop. Hope this helps.
