Paint drying on brush?

Im trying desperately to learn to blend using the juicing technique, my paint is thin...maybe 6 parts water to one of paint, but my blends still show and i get a chalky texture with light colors, my brush is not overloaded, i can see the trail of water evaporate, all i can think of is that my paints are crap...revell aqua color.

That's a good possibility. I think these are a type of acrylic/vinyl paint intended really for simple applications and less to the kind of finesse necessary for high-end painting of figures.

That said, chalkiness of the type I think you're describing is commonly caused by using too-light paint, rather than being down to a fault of the paint (i.e. it can happen no matter how good or bad the paint is).

Try using more intermediary steps to begin with, also be careful about applying the lightest highlight over anything where there isn't a highlight already - not over the midtone or a shadow.

Sometimes I swear I can see like pigment particles on the brush head, or maybe its dry paint, i dont see how it could be drying on the brush though as I use a damp cloth to remove excess, and as i say the paint is very dilute. I dont know whether Im just too bothered about trying to blend instead of painting a solid mini, but i want to learn for sure, but like I say maybe the paint is just crap, I tried feathering with only slightly thinned paint and the edges dried so quickly that they created a water mark. Are Vallejo Game Color a good paint? I saw some good deals on Ebay, and I cant really afford anything too expensive as I have personal money issues.
