Paint first, assemble later?

I\'m about to start painting some chaos warriors (GW\'s static ones.) And i\'m thinking of painting each individual part separately and assemble them after that.

I\'m interested in hearing any pros and cons with this assemble after painting style. If you guys have any prefered technique, any lessons learned by doing this. Anything usefull.

it really depends on the mini, and what level ya plan to take it to...

i\'m a big fan of the \"paint it in parts\" approach...
if the mini is gonna need a lot of green stuff though, i just suck it up and deal with the hard to reach spots...

things like the big chaos warrior shields are always better to leave off \'til last...
the should be o.k. to assemble completely(be sure they rank up before paintin\' the unit)...

I like to paint in parts too. It allows you to get all the detail that you cannot if the mini is already assembled.

Shields are one thing, but IMO leaving whole arms and legs off is a recipe for grief, unless they fit perfectly and the joint correlates with a natural discontinuity in the sculpt (like an arm emerging from a sleeve).
