Paint Racks

Good paint racks seem a bit like the Holy Grail....?

I've found some quite nice ones recently from a seller who trades on eBay called Progengsphere.

Laser-cut MDF and available in different sizes and formats. They can't be bad...I've bought three:)

I like that one quite a bit! I've got the round carasol style one, but to be honest, I've given up using it, as it takes up so much space, and is a bit clumbsy.

Another user showed a pic of a nice tall one, with what seemed to be a relatively small footprint....

Currently, I'm using some plastic storage bins the Reaper Master Paints came in...But I've noticed it's hard to see what each individual one is, so I've tended to leave them on my desktop....Gets a bit crowded with 10+ various WIP minis, and 50+ bottles of paint....(plus my brushes, a cup of coffee, pallette, some dried gunk, and various other necessities.

I saw the one you linked to and that looks amazing...I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat:)

Trouble is, people making racks of that calibre generally move on to bigger things so there's a need to grab them whilst you can. The ones I've highlighted are pretty damn good...I'd rather have one of the others...but I just grabbed a couple while I could.

I also have one of those carousel thingies, same as you, and they are good...well, better than nothing, but very large and 'plastiky'.

So, looking at that one you pictured...Can it 'stack' higher? It seems you could add yet another layer of rack there with no 'tippy' problems.

You'll have to let us know when you get them, if you can double (or triple) stack em.

I need one that's a lazy susan type but holds not only various sizes of paint bottles but bead jars and my jars of pigments. :(

There's a lot of scope here for blue-sky-thinking here.... I'd like one based around a square shaped hole that would take a bottle of JD:)

Actually, I suspect my ideal paint rack would be some sort of carousel that I sat in the middle of...:D

I need to tap in to the collective wisdom present in the thread here and find out what makes the perfect paint rack. It seems all these standing models take up so much desk space and make it difficult to see the colors. So what makes your perfect rack (for paint :) ).

I had considered making one where the bottles were nearly horizontal, maybe just a slight upward turn. It seems to me this wastes a lot less space than the tiered ones displayed above where the space under the top tiers is unused. It would be very easy for vallejo/RMS bottles, but poses a challenge for P3 and GW ones. I'm still working on that.

Either put them in upside-down so you can see the color or put a dab of paint on the top.

Someone posted a while back about a paint rack made from short lengths of PVC pipes arranged in a rack. Held like 3 or 4 bottles in a pipe. Kinda like a big wine rack for little bottles. Still not a viable option for the GW squat bottles. Something more like a spice rack for them.
