I find that when I mix my paint w/ water, flow improver, retarder, etc., that it separates fairly quickly. Is there a way to prevent this besides re-stirring it constantly.? Thanks.
I don\'t have that problem if I stir the paint quite vigourously to begin with. I have noticed that retarder makes the paint separate more easily, but good stirring from the start takes care of that.
This is very likely to always be a problem with certain mixes, here the dead flesh probably contains Titanium White and an earth pigment (iron oxide) and the black might be a carbon black; being very different weights they have a natural tendency to sink or float accordingly. This happens all the time with any mix of dissimilar pigments when watered down a lot.
Some additives do seem to make the problem more pronounced.
