I put all my paints into a spare drawer of my desk. I\'ve put a blob of colour on top of the lids so I can easily see what colours I have. Might not be what you\'re after, but it is very cheap! (Assuming that you already have a desk with drawers, that is.)

Well since I currently have more GW paints than I know what to do with, I was having the same problem. Then one day at the grocer, I asked what they did with the containers pre-cut fish comes in, and they gave me one.

Plastic, snap-on lid. Holds many paint pots, and if one leaks, it doesn\'t spill because it is low height.

Really depends on how much paint and what kind you need to store, and will you be using it out of your storage container?

I know someone who stores paints in groups in pencil boxes. Those plastic ones about the size of a cigar box. He groups them in army schemes and such. He can grab one pencil box and have everything needed in it to paint up some figs on the go.

You could make your own as well.

Is your storage device for storing, using while you paint, transportation, or all/some of the above?

im wanting to have storage on my desk so i can just reach and get the paints i want.

that is probably the cheapest idea but the obly problem my draws are full of crap and minis atm but its a possibility

sam when i squeezed into a tiny space (about 4ft square including computer!) i made up a simple shelf on one side - just get some mdf (12mm) cut into strips about 1 1/2 inch wide then whatever length you need and height.

that keyboards not there at the moment - changed comps and its a wirless one thats a pain to set up so corded for now until i can be asred to change it!

Sam some of the boxes I\'ve ended up using are from HERE Courtesy of Rylands stationary.
They are very handy and one of the additional benefits is that the box lids can be used as pallettes and easily cleaned.
They can stack and if you buy the clear ones aren\'t difficult to see through.

@mickc22: You should do a tutorial on making those, if you haven\'t already. They\'re something I\'d love to have a go at making when I have the space and some vaguely appropriate tools. I\'m not sure a small patio and a Swiss army knife are going to cut it.

I find a B&Q toolbox is my storage of choice, I alternate between painting at work and home so I have to mobile.

I\'d love to have a set-up like Mike\'s!

nice setup mick!

mine are the only tidy bit of my painting stuff - they are in neat boxes from hobby craft (£14 and the drawers are just big enough for a vallejo bottle to stand up in). gw in one drawer, vallejo in another (although i have \'the case\' of vmc too), p3 and assorted (tamiyas etc) in the other. a few models in the top section and some blades for those bits of flash that you occasionally miss..

am in the process of sorting out my hobby room now (it\'s the messiest part of the move), can;t wait to finish it

Well a tutorial could be possible, some shot\'s would need to be set up for clarity, as opposed to being taken while actually doing the work, but yeah, it could be done.

A small mitre saw would be better than a Swiss Army knife lol

When I was teaching, I found that plano boxes would hold VMC/VGC/RMS paints

I don\'t remember the exact stock numer or size of the box, but there are several that come in the right depth to hold dropper bottles.
