Paint that looks like plastic and other questions

Everytime i do a cool base on a GW base i end up hurting the black shiney plastic... is there a black shiney paint that looks like black shiney plastic?

My sister just found out i had her camera for the last year... need another one that\'s good on macro/zoom and around $200 to $300. After a while on Steve\'s Digicam... i\'m horribly lost.

Anyone know if Jansen Art Traditions paint is any good? Seems when i bought some supplies last at the art store i got entered into a drawing and won a 10 color pot set (including \"Ultramarine Blue???) with a pot of \"glazing medium\" and a pot of \"extender and blending medium\" which made me go :] free stuff\'s good stuff. :)

Hmm, the base.. i\'d just mask it with some clear tape and keep it on until you have finished painting the mini, I tried this once.. worked for me :)

And the camera, a Nikon Coolpix 2200 or 3100 is a good choice, the retail is under 300bucks in most places. Two guys have already bought cams like these because of my advice on other forums lol Now I want one :)

Okay, we seem to be answering our questions in chunks, so as to the Jansen art Traditions paints:
They are a decent quality acrylic paint used primarily for things like tole painting and other craft projects. I\'d say it was a step above the Apple Barrel paints and the like. How suitable it will be for miinis I don\'t know. The mediums and extenders should work with no problems, though.

Oh, and yes :D Ultramarine blue was a color long before (say, perhaps a few centuries) GW \"invented\" ultramaines.

I can vouch for the Nikon 3100 Coolpix, too. Excellent camera. Mayne at Dragon-Miniatures uses (or at least used to) one of these. You still have to make sure the subject is properly lit of course, but the Coolpix is very easy to use. Nikons are well known for their good quality built-in macro lens, which is an absolute must for photographing miniatures.

I\'d also highly recommend a tripod. I bought a small Quantaray for $20 US and it\'s served me perfectly for most purposes.

Thanks everyone... lots of good help. So i\'ll give the paint a try on a guenie pig mini, try a gloss finish on the black on my bases and those CoolPix cameras look like their EXACTLY what i need: light, point, shot:cool:
