Paint then glue or glue then paint?

Is it better to glue,prime, then paint. Or is it better to Prime,Paint then Glue a mini.

So far when i have been painting I have Glue,Primed then Painted. I recently bought a new mini that i want to paint but it looks really complex. I have been thinking it might be better to Prime,Paint,Glue this mini. I could be completely off what do you all think would be the best way to go about this.

FYI my mini is a Warmachine Raek. I am very excited to paint it :)

It always depends on the pose for me, if pinning and fixing everything together is viable without obstructing the painting of it, then I do that. If it's more dynamic and creates impossible to get to places if pinned and fixed, then I paint it separately after a dry assembly for pins and what then priming it.

assemble as much as you can, as long as it does't disturb your painting. If you can't reach an area because of a part, then you should paint it separately, and glue at the finish (1 warning: you may have to rework/reblend the join area a bit)

For the Raek: as far as I know there are no real overlapping parts and all the areas are reachable by brush, so glue-putty-prime-paint is ok for it.

Was looking to see what the mini was but couldn't find it, what army of warmachine is it in? I prefer to glue the whole mini then prime and paint but if there is a shield or something in the way of painting the rest of the mini I will paint then glue. Another option is to drill and set magnets. This also comes in handy when the mini is holding a long weapon that makes storing and transporting a problem other wise.

depends on the model. if you cant get at everything properly then paint it first, glue later. if the area isn't going to be that visable, still atleast get your base coat down and a wash, then glue it.
