Painted or polished

Can you guys look at miniature number 56999 and tell me if that armour has been painted or polished? Which ever way it has been done, it looks superb! I know Finn has been giving this technique a try, but he hasn\'t shown any results yet (hint hint)!

Yeah it looks to me like the guy/gal has polished it and went a bit heavy on the wash for he recesses.

Hard to say....

I simply can\'t tell from that picture as it is too dark. If you twisted my arm though I would say that it is paint;)

Sounds like a fight......paint or polish!!

2 for polish and 1 for paint (and it had to be Finn lol )

I think I\'ve changed my mind...

It\'s not that I want to avoid a fight or anything, hehe. Its just that I have had a closer look. I have enhanced the image - not to look it\'s best- but just to try and resolve this question:

polished

What do you reckon Shaz?

I\'m sort of stuck on this one. To me the armour looks polished and washed, but the edges of the shield sort of look like silver enamel paint to me. I think thats why I\'m not sure (and how decisive is that sentence :D ).

That\'s what threw me too...

The edge on the shield does look painted, but this effect might have been caused when, if polished, he painted the back of the shield black???

Thats a possibility, especially if they didn\'t put a wash on the shield edge. I may just have to send them a little message asking :)

What if...

the model was a mod job, so the shield MIGHT be plastic... now you can\'t polish plastic and make it look like metal (duh) so then you\'s have to paint it. But what if you really like the polished metal look? Then you\'d polish the armour and paint the shield.

Maybe i\'m talking out my arse, but that\'s how it looks imho.:D

Well, I can finally put this to rest. I PM\'ed the artist (Cheeko) and he told me. Am I going to share it with you lot?

Yeah, alright then :D

He did polish it, with his Dremel and then burnished it up with a paperclip. He used thinned black oil paint to create a wash over it all.

I likes it :D

Now you guys can all rest easy, knowing this conundrum is answered......
