Painted Sacred Blade to sell or not to sell?

When I got the job to paint up the Sacred Blade line for Peter Shepheard one of the rewards was to keep the minis I painted.
From the outset I fully intended on selling them at some point.

Now the dilema.

I want to stick this guy on ebay but am reluctant becuase of the lack of interest it might get.
What do you lot think?

And of course if anyone is personally interested just let me know.

Nice work. Do you mean you fear the lack of interest will lead to a poor selling price? Isn\'t that what the \"reserve price\" is for? Or am I mistaken?

My theory is if I am asking myself if I should or not then... I should not.
Minis that I know I painted and have no emotional or excess time investment in are the ebay ones then if I have no interest developed I do not mind the lower price.
Yes the reserves are for a control factor but often turns off buyers they are into an auction not a guessing game and it tends to put a value on the item kinda like a buy it now button. Does that make sense?

IMHO Mark I noticed that your auctions are very straight forward and in fact I felt the mention of it not being played before was genius what is obvious to me is not to others.
My point is you should have a loved one write your auctions so that they put in your bright spots, such as who you paint for how long you have been painting etc.
Not ego ( I have scarcasim for that although no one understands it )
I thought the price would increase on your work two fold at least and indeed you are overdue for that. I had hubby do mine first.

Nice work on this mini, BTW!

Congrats on getting the painting job for SB Minis as well!

Have you done a search on ebay to see if anyone else is selling any Sacred Blades? As others probably have pointed out, the rarity of this figure could really increase the value.

Of course, it would be kinda nice to hang onto it...

If you choose to put it up there, I hope the auction is very successful!

what is the attachment?

Do you have a sentimental attachment to it? I don\'t mean to sound condescending with that question, but seriously, if it is something that was important to you, something that marked a milestone it your painting, then you best keep it. If you sold it, you\'d probably regret it later down the road.

However, if you viewed it only as a \'stepping stone\' to furthering your own painting ability then hock that sucker and buy some more cool stuff. Put a reserve price that you think is fair and go for it.

Hmm, personally, I\'d be having trouble with the whole \"sentimental value\" thing, but it seems like you don\'t have a problem with that...money is your sole concern?

If you intend to sell them at some point, you might as well throw \'em up on ebay now. Alternatively, you could try and find a private buyer. *cough*Finn17*cough*

My previous auctions have been for older minis with no sentiment at all and they have served a purpose well.If I was to ebay the minis I have of this quality then I would certainly re-work the sales department.


Reserve yeh,but no one will pay the £1000 quid I think its worth

As far as I know there are only unpainted ones on ebay and very few at that.

Something to ponder I guess.

Are these the 1st mini\'s that you have painted for a company? If they are I would think that you might want to keep them. At least thats what I would do if I had the chance to paint for a company. But if you have been doing this for a while sell them. I guess the question you would have to ask yourself is, what is the least that you would take for these, and then set the price somewhere below that.

As a ebayer myself, both selling and buying id got to say that I get turned off by auctions with reserve prices.

So do I which is why I am reluctant to do so.The market would be restricted to collectors anyway I think.

I guess the fact that I am reluctant shows that I shouldnt.

Anyway I could be meeting up with Pete soon so I will hold off until after that.

Me personally I would not sell it, I only ever sold one painted mini and it fetched a fair price but I have regretted it. I have often said to my wife that I wish I hadn\'t. I don\'t mind selling stuff that I haven\'t painted but to sell stuff that I have I don\'t think I could bring myself to do it again.

I remember advocating the principle of only ebaying stuff you paint with the intention of doing so,thus lessening the blow of the £/hour thing.
Guess I should stick by it.

Mark; Congrats on the painting gig. Well deserved. As for selling the mini, I couldn\'t do it man. More power to you if you can. I just really have trouble parting with them unless I\'ve gone into it knowing that it was for sale (like a commission.)

Ive decided to stick him up there with a reserve price and buy it now.

If he meets the reserve great,if he doesnt sell then at least I will have learned a bit from it.

Also does anyone know how to change the postage details so it just says contact me for postage costs.

Well you can just list basic postage for UK then put in some text saying to contact you for registered/international etc.

Yeh I put the price on for uk special delivery.

Suppose I will have to find out extra insurance costs.
