Painters in the Greater Los Angeles Area

It\'s come to the attention of Evil Tendencies and myself that we don\'t live that far apart. Mr Tendencies has proposed that we find other painters in the Greater (northern-ish) Los Angeles area and get together for a painting day. I like the idea, being in need of some inspiration and instruction.

So what I was wondering is are there many of us around here and who would like to get together and paint? ???

I\'m curious.... Just what makes the northern-ish part of L.A. so great? Or greater than the southern-ish part? Is this an arbitrary decision on some governmental level, or is it just because you live there that it\'s great?

Please clarify.

The Greater Los Angeles area is anything from about South long Beach to ....... pushing it I\'d say Santa Clarita. It also ranges from the coast to .........ooooohhhh.........San Bernadino-ish. Thats an area of about 50 miles by 50 miles or so. That a HUGE area. The name I think comes from the news. They refer to all that as \"the Greater Los Angeles Area\".

We\'re looking for people in that are but want to keep the meet up in the northern part if the area because ........well.......I live 85 miles north of the northern most border of LA. It takes me 1.5 hours just to get to that point.

Hope that helps.

I live in Pomona. I go to school at Cal Poly. It is about 20 minutes from downtown. Let me know if you ladies and gentlemen get together to paint.

If I have enough warning, I\'d love to do this as well. I had a great time painting with Damian and Jason a couple of weekends ago!! I\'d love to do it again.:D

Cake or Death?
I live about two hours north of the mountains, but I\'d be willing to drive down on a weekend to do this. Would anyone be willing to host?

Ya painting with Aaron was great. I learned some helpful tricks that will definately improve my painting... if I am not too lazy to practice. Thanks Aaron! :)

I would be willing to spend the night somewhere if I am aloud to crash on someones sofa or something. Also just FYI, my game club, the Pacific Marauders, are doing their anual Rogue GT at Orc Con in February. I will be hosting painting classes that are FREE with admission to the con. It would be cool if we could all get together there as well. Oh, and there will be a painting contest that will hopefully motivate people to finish their minis!!!! I\'ll post more info on that when it gets closer and I have schedules and such. Until then :p

I\'d have to check with the wife, but I\'m sure that she would also love to host a painting weekend. I\'m a bit of a drive for most folks, but we do live only 45 minutes from Sequoia Nat\'l Park (and have a year\'s pass), so we could go somewhere pretty when our eyes and fingers start to give out.

And the puppies would love to lick new hands, I\'m sure! :D

How many, want king and I want!

We have two - a lab-pointer mix, and a mutt with a Shar-pei snout. I\'ve even got them trained to not sniff after miniatures.

I\'m in downtown L.A. and would like to try and make it if something like this does get put together. Not anytime in the next few weeks, though, as I\'m getting married this coming weekend (maybe you\'ve seen my cake topper? ;) ) and leave one week from now for a two-week honeymoon. Anytime November or later, though, count me in.

Heck, I make no promises, but it might even be possible for me to host. My apartment complex is on the same property -- literally, across a mere driveway -- from Union Station in downtown L.A. So all the local subways, MetroLink regional trains, and Amtraks from farther out all end up a couple hundred yards from my front door... might that make the travel a little easier on some of the more distant peeps? Our apartment itself probably wouldn\'t be well-suited for this type of thing, but the complex also has a fairly large general-use rec room that might be used for something like this.

Hmm... let me see what\'s up when I get back from my honeymoon -- and have some time to decompress afterward, too!

I have a place in Ventura...bit of a ways, but I usually fly into LA. So, depending on dates, it\'s possible... :)
