Hello all,

Seeing as this is my time on the forums... i searched on the forum to see if there was a way to paint a good white... using GW skull white.... but there isn\'t....

Does anyone know how?

Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of very thin layers is the only way to get it smooth without patches.

I feel your pain MatiasBGFDC, working on a mostly white wraithlord. And boy, is it a b@tch. As stated by Swordwind, lots and lots of layers (thin, thin), layers :(:(

Start with a white undercoat and simply shade it with pretty much any colour. I\'m not a fan of starting with a darker basecoat and trying to highlight it up.

Blues and green greys keep the white looking cool and clean.

Secret is to be very careful about the amount of tone you add and to build it up in fine layers. You shouldn\'t need to use any white paint (other than the undercoat) at all.

A lighter colour underneath is the key...

Whether that be bleached bone which gives a warmer effect, or space wolves grey, which gives a cooler effect...

Shading is taking a darker shade of a particular color, in very thin layers, and painting it in the recesses and areas where there would be shadow.

Just remember to keep your paints very thin.
In the case of white... well, what Spacemunkie said.

If it\'s a lot of white on a mini, undercoat with white primer. If you need to prime in black but want some white areas then as Dan suggested use paler colours first that cover better. You can use the foundation paints, astronomicon grey or dheneb stone, as they cover well.
