Painting a glass orb?

Just curious if anyone has any tips for painting a full 360 glass orb. Painting the orb half embedded in a gauntlet or armor is easy enough, but I\'m having trouble expanding the technique to a 360 degree object. Thanks for any tips.

Well the problem is knowing which way up it is... If it\'s a fully detached 360 degree orb, they you can only really paint it in one shade, as you don\'t know where to put the light source...

Unless - do you mean it\'s held up on a thin bit of wire or something...?

Your description has me confused :p
