I would like to make some sand desert effect bases, can anyone give me some games workshop or Vallejo paint names I could use. So for example , scorched brown, layered with, dry brush with etc.

Thanks

It really depends what paints you have and what sort of "desert sand" you're looking to do. A quick search can find many an answer. There are several articles on CMON here which discuss many ways to paint sand, check the painting-terrain section:

Basecoat [Colours can be varied (Sand varies between desert & beach)]
VMC Cork Brown
VMC Beige
VMC Sand Yellow
VMC German Yellow
VMC Iraqi Sand

Wash
VMC Dark Sand
VMC Brown Sand
VMC German Camoflage Pale Brown
VMC German Camoflage Medium Brown
VMC Chocolate

Drybrush/Highlight
VMC Ivory
Any of the above colours which is paler than your basecoat and has a similar colour "look".

You might be better off looking at the colour chart in comparison with a shops display to get a better idea of how the colour really look as the colour chart is not 100% accurate in terms of paint matching. http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/gb/model-color-gb.html

I do desert with GW calthan brown, heavy drybrush snakebite leather, less heavy drybrush bubonic brown (or whatever its called nowadays) then a still fairly heavy drybrush of vallejo bone white. Any brown/lighter brown/tan/bone paints will do. All this drybrushing assumes a very textured surface, of course. I use actual sand, oddly enough...
