Painting beakers of liquid

Hi all - I did a bit of searching but couldn't find what I was looking for. I recently bought the Mad Scientist Reaper mini as I had never taken on painting something, well, non-fantasy/sci-fi/what have you. I am at loss on how to paint beakers or glasses, though. I was hoping I could get some tips or articles or advice on this from someone here? I'd really appreciate it!

I paint my thumb.
Pretty tough to pull this one... there will be good example in the gallery of what it would look like under 'mad scientist' or 'sister of mercy' (Seringue) I think.
I would say you have the liquid horizontally -------
Then a other line a bit darker and wavy to give a 3d feel ------
------

And a vertical very stark highlight (White) ------ I ------
Then a couple darker transitions near the edges (vertical)

That's the best explanation I can formulate... your much better off looking a pics :/

Alright, so I looked at those minis. It looks like the liquid is just painted in and then the beaker/syringe is just painted a light gray?

I'd read once (way back when, so I won't be bothered to find it) that sometimes painting the liquid in a container will only look "right" from one direction. This might be one of those cases.

One thing to look at would be the CMON 18 contest pictures. I've tried to make my entry's soda bottles look like they were filled with liquid. I'm sure some others can chime in with other examples. Beer would be a good one to search for. That's a popular subject around here.

depends on the pose of the minis but it can certainly be the case search for fabius bile, he's a good example
