painting classes/ teachers onhand

Does anyone know of people that give classes on how to paint minitures. I know i can read a hundred articles but seeing someone do it and workig with them would be very benificial. I would be willing to pay. And the closer to Michigan the better. Faces and skin exspecially tones just blow me away.

Most all of your hobby stores have an in-house artist who will do painting sessions or have a set time/date they actually teach painting classes. Just ask the owner of your favorite hobby shop if there is someone he can pair you up with.
Likewise, around here, there is ALWAYS at least one guy hanging out in the gameroom painting on figs on the weekends. Probably the same in your part of the country as well.

Well if you go to GW HQ I know that they have a guy that can give you painting lessons, but nor free though Otherwise follow lurch\'s advice.

You\'ll get the freak-status in due time Frenchkid. And On topic Lurch is absolutely right, most game-stores have either fanatics hanging about or their own paint-programme.

Try this link, WWW.halton-daemons.co.uk and have a look at Jays painting tips. This guy is an amazing painter, unfortunately we don\'t have a gallery yet so you\'ll just have to take my word for it.

Occasionally we have painting classes in our store just outside of Chicago. Jen Haley gives classes here on occasion (don;t tell Chrispy ;-)) and does a really nice class on face work and skintones. She shared teaching the class with Anne Foerster (vaitalla), but since Anne moved to Texas to work for Reaper we haven\'t done much. Jen and I have talked a little and we haven\'t worked out any times as of yet, not until we see there\'s enough interest. If you\'re interested, let me know off-line and I\'ll add you to the mailing list...

Other places to get help are at Gen Con Indy where many different painters give classes of all sorts...or check out your local conventions, as well as your local game store...maybe you can find a willing teacher close to home if you let people know you want a class.

right here\'s something which might be of help. Go to :-Andrea Miniatures and look for the interactive CD painting guide.
It\'s a good video guide, even if the example is a historical 54mm, the same rules apply.

By looking at the paints I think that there\'s not much to differentiate between Andrea and Vallejo for colours. One thing I would suggest is that you look to the paints that you currently use and see if you can adapt the method.
The CD itself is very helpful, well put together and very professional. It is mostly aimed at a Beginner/ Recent starter in painting, but has good hints & tips.
