Painting competitions

Now that I have my first mini completed I think I\'m getting addicted to this hobby. Other than the typical Golden Demon awards, are there any other major painting competitions that are reguraly held in the US?

Tons of comps- GenCon, Origins, KublaCon, ReaperCon, I\'m sure I\'m missing a bunch. Many stores have painting comps too and if you\'re just getting started that\'s a great place to test out your skills.

In addition to these there are multiple societies dedicated to historic miniatures. Some of them are quite strong and they also host regular painting competitions. Of late some of them even expanded their categories to include SciFi and Fantasy.
