Painting Competitions?

Does anyone know any painting competitions in the New York City Area (US)? its hard to find people of the painting hobby near me unfortunately.

Sure, check out the Long Island Model Soldier Society: http://www.longislandmodelsoldiers.com/LIHMCS_Model_S.html

They do a show once a year in November and also have regular meetings. It's a mix of historical and sci-fi/fantasy painters. I went to their show last year, its a really great group of talented and friendly painters.

There are tons happening on line right now. I am only aware of this because I swore off online comps this year, so of course everyone and their f***ing cousin is having one! ARRRRRGH!

I seen them online, but I feel its completely different in person!

You are not wrong. There is nothing like the in person shows and seeing the minis first hand. I'm excited for the one in July here in Toronto. It's been a long time since we had hobby related shows in this town.
