Painting contests

Every now and then - and sometimes quite often - you guys enter different competitons online. You read \" this was my entry for Total testosterone, femme fatale etc. My question is where do you find all these online contests - do one have to go to every painting website or do you have any \"easy ways of finding out\". I think it could be fun to participate, and it would hopefully help me aiming a little higher every time.

As far as I know, there isn\'t one spot that lists all the online contests. But usually people advertise here on CMON.

Concerning the Wyrd contests you mentioned, you might want to look here for the upcoming Iron Painter contest :

Wyrd runs several online competitions every year and they\'re pretty good. The Iron Painter is definitely a good challenge and will allow you to push yourself.

Most of the online comps that I\'ve seen are just from announcements at Wyrd, here at CMoN, World of Minis and at Reaper (those are about the only forums that I frequent).

Maybe someone could come up with some kind of \"Competition Central\" where websites could announce upcoming comps. It could help increase the number of entrants and give websites some exposure.

Electric Ocean used to be a great central location for announcements and dates of stuff like that, but the main person running it had a child and got too busy to keep it up, I think.

The news section here at CMON and the Paint Contest forum at Reaper are two places I check. As mentioned, Wyrd Games has contests very regularly, so that\'s a good one to bookmark. The Forum of Doom is a forum site shared by four different British companies, and they collectively or individually run contests periodically. One of their members, Black Scorpion, is running a contest with a deadline of May 1. Newbold World runs charity contests and events throughout the year. Their current painting contest closes to entries on June 30, and they also have contests for 2D art and figure sculpting. The last one I know of right now is the revived Chick Challenge, there should be something about it in the news section here, deadline April 29.

Oh, and while it\'s not a classic contest with prizes and categories, if you\'re looking for feedback or deadlines to get you painting, the Golden Toadstool can be just the thing. It runs monthly, and participants vote and comment on each other\'s entries. It has its own forum here on CMON, the Fungal Forum.

If you want a monthly you-don\'t-have-to-paint-real-great-we\'re-just-having-fun comp join our ebay group. There\'s a comp every month+ and we\'re just starting a new one. Every month the loser of the month before choses the theme for the new one and the winner gets a mini from the winner of the month before. It\'s all in fun. Here\'s a link Ebay group You have to sign up for ebay but we have fun ragging on Highbulp Billy and picking part eachothers work.
