Painting Dead Trees (wood)

I am looking for some recipes for painting old, dead trees and tree stumps. The effect I am going for can be seen here:

Any advice is appreciated.

Try for a very neutral grey with a SLIGHT brown leaning. Also dry brush in some very light grey-brown and also dull green. Doing some washes with watered down black can bring out the texture also.
