Painting DVDs

Hey all,

So I was looking to pick up one of the painting dvds. I don't know much about them though but know that with a little bit of instruction you can usually advance your painting. I am a pretty experienced painter and one that others have stated as "advanced". I do commissions and my clients pay quite a bit for the models and are happy to do so. However, i am looking to push myself a little bit farther. So i was hoping someone might recommend a good advanced painting DVD.

Thanks in advance for any advice/reviews of dvds/critiques of dvds.

I personnaly bought some Miniature mentors videos. Most of them are great, I really like the "complete solution" with a rackham miniature painted by Laurent Esposito.
They described quite well the blending techniques with diluted paint, I have learned a lot with it... I have bought some others but didn't go through completely, it takes quite lots of time to watch a 3 or 5 hours video!

MMentor ones are really good, yes, but not every video.
The Wolven one is great, but if you've seen that the advanced-1 doesn't give too much new information.
"Artis Le Gnome" and the new true metallic metals were not that good either imho.
The others are good, but some are very specific like the speed-painting vid, which one is really great, but not aimed for display pieces.

But the best I've seen is still the JBT one, explains and shows a lot.

the CMON vids... I have a mixed feeling, I found the Jennifer Haley to be really good (and because of this I'd like to see the Dark-Sword one too) but the other not so much. Not for the technique, because that's great to see how AlexiZ paints but the little explanation.

About this explaining: originally I hated the chatting in the MM videos, but after seeing one without text I realised, that it's better with chatting than with music only.

2 others I'd like to recommend:
- figurines-tv.com 's videos, there are some real gems there for free
- the first DVD from figurines-tv. I really really liked this one.

Ok, understood, have his book already (in french) but impossible to find his video anymore. Kraken editions doesn't exist anymore, didn't find any second hand copy on ebay...
Do you have any solution where to find these 2 DVDs?

No. I did find several file sharing websites that has it, but I am not willing to register on a site to download them.

Yes I fully understand, I want to buy it too, not download it for free!
I check this http://www.figone.fr/vmchk/dvds.html but seems JBT is out for an African trip until September 2012 that's why the shop is closed for a while! Better wait and try improving my skills without it... Have some already but it seems that JBT video is really well rated by most of the users who saw it...
