!st let me say I have read the article on CMON and was only able to find one of them for painting eyes. it didn\'t have any pictures, but it explained alot. My question is I have a 3/0 brush and its a pain in the ass to paint the eyes in the older GW drwafs, whats a good all round brush for painting eyes? Thanks in advance!

Personally, I\'ve taken to sharpening the end of a toothpick a bit, and using that
to make the dots of pupils.

I\'m probably going to catch crap for this but I swear by a Reaper 20/0 fine detail brush for eyes. It\'s tiny, holds paint well, has short stiff compact bristles and does spots extremely well. But when you use it thin your paints down fairly well for controle. Better to have too little paint than too much.

Sounds like that would have the results like my first minis ever have. I actually used a cocktail stick but there was too much paint (I was using Humbrol enamels back then) and so the paint just spread over about a third of his face. Same for the 2nd mini. I learnt my lesson after that one.

Hi, my suggestion is : paint the eye area in black, paint a zone inside this with skull white or bleached bone taking care of leaving the black on the borders visible then add a dot with a pigma 005 pen like this:

I use a Winsor & Newton Series 7 size 0. I have a W&N 2/0, some Loew Cornell 10/0 variants and other tiny little sable brushes, but nothing beats a good point for eyes. And as counter-intuitive as it sounds, the thinner the better when it comes to paint and tiny, dark details. Very thin and tiny brush load.

White primer, then paint the flesh on not going over the eyes.
I use a W&N Series 7 size 0 to dot the blacks in.
Then use a W&N Series 7 size 00 to put a tiny white dot on the black. (Only been doing this on very recent models, so there is no example of it in my gallery or on my site.)

I may do a tutorial on it though, as its pretty simple and would probably be explained better with pics.

I use a bit of dryingtime retarder with the paint so that it won\'t dry halfway to the eye. I use a W&N size 0 for most of the work I do but it\'s very important not to overload the brush with paint or water. I do use a 00 sometimes. You can also try doing the eye black first and then dot in the whites on the sides. Another trick is to have the eyes looking to the side instead of straight forward.. easier to keep them aligned.

I like those black reaper brushes almost as well as my W&N S7\'s. And that is saying a lot.

Reaper\'s site has an area called \"the craft\" and an article there called \"Betty Davis Eyes\". A very good read:
