Painting fish?

I\'ve recently completed a GW mordheim flagellant, and I\'m not happy with my work on the fish hanging from his belt. I tried mith silver and an ink wash, but its too bright and cartoony.

I\'ve not really studied fish-paingint before. Has anybody got any tips/recipes for this figure?

Well maybe you could use a black undercoat, drybrush some metal and then use som various inks, like blue on the spine and red on the belly. Remember that they disguse themselves by being darker on their back and lighter on their bellies.

Or you could skip the metals.. and just go for NMFM (non metallic fish metal)

... I just kept on telling really bad jokes all day.. don\'t know whats with me. Any suggestions? ;)

Even though it sounds a bit fishy, I\'d tow the line and keep up the bad jokes...I usually fall for those jokes, hook, line and sinker.

Let me wade in on this:

Most fish are white on bottom and dark on top (green or near black) with smaller fish generally having a verticle striping to hide in the weeds. Some fish have a lateral line ( a strong dark line down the side ) that is a sensor. Some are spotted (red drum, brown trout) some are brightly colored (roosterfish, rainbow trout, dolphin (the fish)) some are mottled for dwelling on sandy bottoms (flounder)

need any references photos?

Now that\'s just brilliant!

I think airhead filled in the (pretty large) gaps in my explanation. good luck with the fish!
