One way

Here\'s how I do it:

1) I paint the hair completely in the color I want it to be.

2) I wash it with a darker color to build depth between the hair strands

3) I repaint the starnds the original color (otherwise the wash will dull it out.

4) highlight it up in 1-5 layers (depending on the effect you want to acheive) to a couple of shades above the original. The final highlight color can be significantly lighter than the original color, but should only be on the areas that would receive the most light.

Good luck!

Aye. Hair.

Mr Morden nailed it bang on the head. If you\'re using ink to wash the hair (as in paint wash, not shampoo wash....explain that to your lady!), keep a matt varnish handy to tone down the glossiness later...

Otherwise the bald fella has done you a massive favour - succinct and all-encompassing.

God bless your hair.

I paint hair more like a regular object, highlighting in line with the texture but without picking out individual strands - I find it helps it look softer and avoids the potential patchiness of ink-washes.
