Painting help!?!?!?

Hi I was painting and I noticed that my paint is a little clumpy and dry looking but everyone elses paints seem to come out smooth and very nice...and since I\'m doin space marines the paint has to be smooth. Also I was wondering about this little thing like on armor where it looks like one color is pulled from the edges into the other parts what is this and how can I learn it!?!?!

Sounds like the techinique youre describing is feathering.This is a way of blending one colour to another.Youre probably looking at the highlights blended in.Take a look in the articles section for a better description.
Your paint being clumpy and dry is more than likely to be not being thinned enough or not at all.Before I found cmon I didnt add water to my paint and dipped my brush right into the bottle.Now my paints are thinned usually 50/50 with water(a tiny touch of washing up liquid in the water pot).This way you apply more layers but they will look a lot better.Trust me on this.
If possible post a small close up on this thread and you will get a better response if we can see it for ourselves.
