hey PPL,

i´m working on a Future Assassin from Freebooter miniatures and want to give it a latex look of black and red.
Any tutorials on painting latex ?
Or should i just give it a shiny glaze coat ?

thx

Hi Bannockburn, this is a hard one actually, I don\'t think the answer is a shiny finishing coat, that VERY rarely turns out looking good. However there is something to be learned from it. The more reflective you want a surface to appear, the more severe you need to make the highlights, since the surface does not difuse light and you only see direct reflection.

To start you need a very good idea of where you want a light source to be coming from, since the highlights are so dramatic, it\'s obvious when one is out of place! Then use your normal highlighting blending, but on a much more focused scale issolated to those spots that would catch light.

I tackled this question with a Calladis Assassin using black, and while I don\'t think it was a total success, it should at least give you something to work from!

I hope this helps some!

ericj is right, extreme highlights are the way to go with shiny surfaces. i dont think a gloss varnish is the answer but don\'t make it too matte
