Painting Little Green Army Men

I was wondering if anybody had tried painting the green army guys you get for about 10 cents each. I got a couple in this grab bag for Christmas and thought I would give it a shot. As anybody who has every tried before can tell you, they have no fine detail. They barely have any hard edges. And the faces are horrendous. I am trying to use these guys to teach me blending. Since the detail is so poor you have to try to fill it in with some paint. I figure if I can get them to look as good as my very first mini it will be a sucess.

Might make a good contest.

I love army men. It would be an interesting contest, well, more interesting than a penny. I\'d have to paint some Marx Germans. I hate the Timmee toys guys. They carry M-16\'s but wear WWII uniforms. What\'s up with that?:bouncy:

I lit em on fire
They make a cool sound when the burning molten soldier drips off.
I dropped a bit on my leg once, and still have the scar to prove it.
Paint em? No. I used to paint the little plastic romans etc though.

I\'m with Yrret though, little green army men are good for one thing, BURNINATING!

Back in the day when they still had some detail to the figures, I painted one or two, along with a caveman or two. Thought about getting one or two to do now but the detail is so poor that I dont know if I would touch em.

Didn\'t really paint the green ones, but I did paint my civil war set when I was young, mostly wounds and stuff with the good old (ancient) Testor\'s enamels.

As for the green ones, like Yrret, I have an oval scar on the back of my right hand from a melting incident some 40 years ago. lol
