@ RG - You\'ve come back after a long leave of absence and have already pissed off 2 people! I myself can\'t understand how, as reading through the posts you don\'t seem to be being particularly vindictive or rude, but maybe I just have more tolerance...

ANYWAY - I like the original idea and I\'d hate this thread to be hijacked by bad feeling.

Truth.

Some people have a bad day. I just laugh, try to interject some humor, and let it roll off me like water off a duck\'s back. I think the problem is what I find funny, others do not. I blame my chronic addiction to Dane Cook\'s idea of humor. And dick and fart jokes. Though I do admit that threatening to have a mythical grandfather kick my ass because a person couldn\'t do it themselves is High Comedy. ;)

I\'m hoping to see some WIP pics of this marble effect though! I can just imagine what it might look like, and found myself dickin\' around with the effect again this weekend to practice getting it to look better. (Still looked the same to me though. /crai.)

STILL WAITING FOR MAH HUG!

Deal!

To create it I chose a color; green since it is part of the triad with purple.

Start over a Chaos Black basecoat. Take Dark Angels Green (or the Vallejo equivilant) and Chaos Black, mixing in a 50/50 ratio for a licorice color. Paint this over the black so it shades it to a dark, dark green.

Over that I started by striping Dark Angels Green across the mini, ensuring that the stripes continued around even if it met an edge.
Keep your paints thin so they are easy to feather blend and don\'t look like zebra stripes. Feathering the edges is key, and often the second feathering brush lightly ran over the top is enough to blend both sides at the same time, with minimal touch-up.

Start adding lighter greens to the mix, and continue going over the striations in smaller, thinner strips. Go over the first strips made, and keep following them; don\'t stray or make new ones. I continued adding to the mix with Scurf Green, Jade Green, and Foul Green, (Vallejo Game Color line), and then added Skull White. The final highlight was pure Skull White. All paints continued to be thinned down so they could be feathered. A bit of Slo-Drihelps as well.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me at anytime. :D

Now gimme some sugah!

I\'d really reconsider attaching nationalities to your insults, Bengoodall...

Some other \'American Twats\', such as myself, might find it offensive.

It really depends on the type of marble you want it to look like. There\'s splotchy marble, smoother simpler marble, and in between...
I did an inbetween look and I think it came out decent. Start off with a darker color, then gradually mix up lighter shades and blot them on but make sure the paint isnt too wet... I wouldn\'t get too light though, and maybe do it in a swirling pattern... also, use google, search for marble images and go off of those.. then mix up a lighter shade and add in the veins. Highlight the veins then mix up some lighter shades and add them too the edges where you want a reflection or shine... the shine is what will make it look more like marble. After painting the shine, reconnect any veins...
Anyways hope this helps a little.. if you pull this off I would like to see pics!!! :)

Ok...
1st of all everyone please stop b*tching on eachother... it\'s pointless.
2nd I like the fluff ok..? even if some parts contradict eachother.
3rd Thanks RG for all the Background info but to the others.. even if there aren\'t any legions or succesor chapters or whatever for the word bearers, I just want my marines to look like they are wearing marble suit of armour^^
OK that would be it.. and just to finish this game of who has the bigger \"youknowwhat\" My granddad is dead and would still beat all of yours... cuz he\'s dutch^^ just kidding i like every person on this planet as long as they show some proper respect.
