I had similar problems a few years back. I then got myself a higher desk and chair..
A decent chair provides good strong back support and allows you to get close to the desk.
The higher desk position naturally pushes the elbows out.
The other rule of thumb I always use is to break regularly and strectch my arms shoulder and neck.as well as have a walk round.And crazy as it sounds a little warm up and stretch routine before starting painting.
It\'s a shame getting older comes with all it\'s associated aches and pains wonder if they\'ll ever have an Old Bloods category in GD for all of us who suffer with arthritis and repetitive strain ..surely more of a disadvantage than been under 13.

@krom: Admittedly, only a year. But if you\'re actually asking whether I am qualified to talk about it, well yes, I believe I am. I\'ve got no problem qualifying that, if you wish. Sorry, Penguin asked, and I wanted to sort out the misconception that Taijiquan is just some sort of glorified health exercise. No more than that.

Ha ha demonherald, got the chair , I will invest in a decent desk, and do the stretching as part of my painting ritual, cheers. The last part I thought was great and something you should put foward as a serious idea to GW.
Old bloods sounds like I might get to first cut then.:D

Modderrhu, I only trained 4 years twice a week at tai chi, and saw many exponents of this art. None of which had a reputation for being \'untouchable\' especially in practice, or the ability to enhance the sensing of the opponent\'s intention, that is only achieved by contact. IMO

The only one that impressed me was a teacher of Earl Montague\'s Tai chi, this person could use it as a fighting style, he caught me out almost for half a second till I woke up. A very impressive chap though and taught me lots. I also learn\'t taoist alchemy with Mantak Chia, he said tai chi was just a small part of this, which also included chi gung iron shirt etc. now that guy had some powers, and I dont mean martial.
Thats along with my 30 years experience with other martial arts, 27 of which were spent understanding Wing Chun which I love.
Now after that amount of typing my shoulder really hurts, now stop changing the subject, especially to one of my favorites:D

Will you get bonus points for listing all the ailments?
Let\'s see:
Arthritis = 10 points
Astigmatism = 1 point
Asthma = 5 points
.
.
.
Et Cetera, Et Cetera.
I stopped counting when I reached 100 bonus points. lol

Actually, i just lay the mini down on the table, and then hold it with my left hand.

..But when i think about it, theres propably more than one reason not to.. (You bend your back, umm... You bend your neck.... It looks idiotic... it IS idiotic...)

Product, Its only when you get older, that the bad posture starts to take its toll , it is then that you will wish you had been more disciplined with your posture:D
I know I do

Dragonreach, I wonder how many points we would get for piles:eek:

Oh, right, this kind of painitng related injuries, I thought this meant when you try to convert a figure and the knife stabs you in the hand. Ouch!:evil:

I have a line going across all of the prints on my left forefinger from when I nearly skinned it slipping with a knife. I could twist all of the skin :|~

Well, when i was mini paintin newb, i used to have a desklamp, with a good ol fashion 60w light bulb on my painint gdesk, nice and close so i could see properyly. Well after a nice hard day at work, i would come home pooped, but still try to paint which inevitably lead me to nod off.

i know on a couple of occasions i work to the smell of burning flesh as i\'d slumped frward and head rested on the nice hot lightbulb. Stupid thing was i did it at least twice :D

try explaining that scar the next day at work!!

All is good now, (and have changed that desk lamp):)

Haven\'t you just made a similar comment on PYP 3?
And didn\'t you not only give a graphic description of yours earlier on, you gave pictures too?
So don\'t comment on mine.:cussing:

I dont recall ever having suffered from any painting related injuries. Perhaps i will notice them when i get older. lol

@James sequirea: is your damaged nerve a product of an accident? Cause you don\'t look very old in you display picture..
