Painting study circle in Umeå? Sven!

After seing the \"painters gathering\" thread I thought it would be fun doing something similar up here in the chaos wastes as well. :idea: I also seem to recall you implying something along these lines at an earlier occasion, Sven.

So why not start a study circle and meet up once in a while and paint/sculpt and discuss painting/sculpting? We could even get a little bit of money from ABF for mini purchases :) We\'d need to get a few more people into it, of course, but I wouldn\'t be surprised if Axel Malmehed and a few of the other painters around here would be interested.

So what do you think, Umeå painters, cool idea or not?

Yep a good idea! I\'ve been meaning to start one up this fall. Sebastian is moving up here as well.. I bet he\'ll be interested. And perhaps we could get hold of others too. Some of the Golden Goblin winners might be interested? We could put up a note at Fantasia? I don\'t care about painting skill at all.. we should just do a maturity test to see that everybody\'s serious. lol But second thoughts.. I might not pass :rolleyes:

Sebastian should be on his way up there, right now... in a car with not one single cubic decimeter of free space. lol Packing that car was like playing tetris! But we managed to get everything except his wife\'s bicycle in.

Hehe... I\'m just a little bit bitter today. I\'ve helped the only mini painter I know here in Stockholm to pack his stuff as he\'s moving to Umeå. Well, I guess I\'ll just paint by myself then... :~(

Great :) Only problem with this fall is I\'m likely to be getting the heck out of here by then! Of course, I\'m only going to Skellefteå, so I suppose I could be here on most weekends. Still, nothing prevents us from starting this summer then Sebastian can join after he gets here?

Advertising on fantasia is an excellent idea. I agree painting skill isn\'t important, we\'d just need to make sure people are motivated to learn more. Maturity is such a subjective word ;)

I\'ll start by posting on the fantasia forum. Should you or I go to fantasia? We could make a little poster in PS and print it.

Yeah Martin Sahlin, that\'d sure be something! He\'s doing game art now, isn\'t he (on an interesting sidenote, I think he has studied in Skellefteå the same education that I\'ve searched to :) ).

Edit: Damn, I type too slowly lol We\'ll start this summer then?

@Anders: :( Well.. you could allways move up here and make Umeå the painting Mecka of Sweden! :)

@Nils: Well.. the only problem I have is that I don\'t have so much time this summer. But it doesn\'t matter, I\'ll try to devote some time into this.

I\'ll check if my printer is working ;) What should we call it? Do you have msn?

Andreas said that Martin bought a mini that he intended to paint some while ago, so he might be into it. :)

Aww :( That sucks... well... I\'m all alone here in Denmark as well :p Left my only painting buddy I had left in Copenhagen! :( Feel free to add me to MSN as well :D Can\'t have too many good painters on your list; tobias_lauritsen@hotmail.com

I see, well the actual meetings don\'t have to take up much time, maybe a couple of hours a week or even every other week or so.

Well.. we might discuss how we should get this thing going without it dying after a while, like many other good iniatives.

Sen är det kul att vi alla pratar engelska istället för Svenska.. But I think it\'s cool to show all other non-swedish that respect

Exactly, we\'ve got to structure it to make each meeting as meaningful and fun as possible, and also make sure to arrange the practical things. I\'ll look into what we need to do to start a study circle (by going to ABF). We need somewhere to be as well, maybe \"F.U.S.K\" would let us use their place..

Good news are that Axel definitely seems interested, let\'s hope a few more catches the bait.
