Hello, I am new to all of these gaming hobbies, and I am especially interested in the painting aspect.
I would like to learn a little about the painting techniques, I know some of them: Drybrushing, highlighting..Well, that\'s all i know.
Please tell me what blendning is...

Look through some of the messages

There\'s a bunch of older messages that can tell you more than I can even start to here. But I will tell you what blending is since you asked specifically. Blending is merely the process of arranging your shadows and highlights such that there is a smooth gradation from your darkest to lightest points.

There\'s usually two ways of going about this, wet blending and layering. Wet blending means mixing the paints on the mini, usually using some kind of retarder to slow the drying time of the paint. Layering is where you start at the lowest point with the darkest color, and work your way up using lighter and lighter colors (and each layer is added after the one below it is dry) on smaller and smaller sections, going for a smooth transition from the darkest to lightest.

What can I say (squeak?!), KatieG and Finn17 said it all.

One thing that\'s impressive about people in this forum is their undaunting spirit to lend a helping hand....no matter how many times!

Welcome! And well met!!

It probably wont..

We should be safe!

Seriously, once you have checked through the forums and articles people here are always willing to (try) and answer questions but newcomers are always pointed in the general direction of the archives, in case they get the idea we are an unfriendly bunch. It\'s not that at all, but you can imagine the clamour to answer a question that has just been posed for the umpteenth time...?
You will see lots of links mentioned in the forums as well. Many of these are well worth investigating!!

Good luck with your search..

Depends on what style

Welcome, Ferevendír!

Like everyone else, I recommend going through the articles and forums here for some tips.

However, one thing you should ask yourself is \"What kind of style do I want to paint?\"

For example, you may really like the \'cartoony\', dramatic look that is often seen in White Dwarf \'Eavy Metal stuff. Or, you may really like the more smooth transitions like the Rackham painters use.

The point is that you will want to use different techniques, depending on what style you want to paint in.

I\'d say go through this site for quite a while, and take note of the things you like. Compare those, and figure out what you like about them. From there, you should have a better idea of what kind of painting you want to do, which will let you find the techniques that are best suited for your chosen style.

Hey, and welcome to the wonderfull world of minipainting :D
For techniques and articles on how to use them, I would sugest you go to the paintingclinic.com this site has tones of article writen by a very good painter.
I don\'t want to sound like an old advice giver but I would sugest that you take your e-mail of the forum and only give to people who request it via u2u. You should be aware that this forum is viewable by all, and you\'d be amazed at what a hacker can do to your e-mail. Never heard the old sentence that is repeated jjust about every where on the internet \" Never give out your credit card number or personnel information on the internet\"

OK, so I painted my Wood Elf standard bearer, ans when I got to the cloak I painted it first with a mix of Enchanted blue and Chaos Black, I blended it by layering, I added some more Enchanted blue, I kept doing this untill the last highlight of Lightning blue was made.
I must admit, I am impressed!
It\'s not finished yet, but i\'m wondering, i\'ll maybe post a link to my site where you can see it, because an unfinished model here would be ugly...
