maybe i can help...

hi Olov,

I had gone through the trial of horn painting (and repeatedly thrown several minis against the wall) and here\'s my advice.

(1) Always thin your paint.
(2) Layer with a fine brush or a brush that has it\'s tip flared.

I have two different techniques. One is faster but less beautiful (okie, okie, it\'s based on my personal standard of beautiful...after all, I always thought I looked better than Keanu Reeves...:|~), while the other is more taxing.

Technique One:
(1) Basecoat your horn bestial brown
(2) Using your fine brush loaded with minimum Bubonic Brown (thinned), paint along the horn varying the direction. This will create the effect of jaggerness
(3) Use very little brown ink (or flesh ink), wash the edges between the bestial brown and bubonic brown. It may help if you\'re using retarder to prevent the paint from drying completely. But don\'t apply the ink too soon when the paint is still very wet. And also apply the ink lightly and remember, only following the edges between bestial brown and bubonic brown. You don\'t want to spoil the lines and mesh it up (although sometimes I deliberate do it :D)
(4) Next, using 50-50 bleached bone with bubonic brown (thinned!), do the same as in point (3) except don\'t apply the ink. However, this time I don\'t recommend varying the angle of the stroke (unless it\'s a big horn). Instead simply paint onto it and using the tip of the brush, draw lines with gaps inbetween. The reason for not needing the ink is the colour transition from bubonic brown to bubonic brown+bleach bone (thinned paint!) is not so drastic. Moreover, always remember not to overload your brush with paint or else, good luck! ;)
(5) Using only bleached bone, do the same. Finally highlighting across the colour layers of bubonic brown+bleached bone and bleached bone with white! This is to create the lighting effect.

Technique Two:

Eh...to lazy to type now and my paint is drying up...Saurus warriors waiting for me...sorry..I\'ll do it next time (/*shhh!!! Quietly*/ moreover, my bro :flame: is gonna kill me as my AMD CPU cooler fan is pretty loud and it\'s almost 3am in the morning here! lol)
