Painting \"Tropical\" Kroot Hounds

Hello, I bought a few Kroot hounds recently and intend to use them as \"guard dog\" magical beasts in a D&D game, maybe even as pack animals.

Im looking for a colour scheme to suit them living in a rain forest region, and want an almost parrot-like or exotic-lizard feel.

If you have any pics of other mini\'s done this way or links/ techniques to share I\'d be very greatful.

Ta!

hi and welcome to the forums... not sure if its what your looking for but.. the way i painted my tyranids i feel has a jungle like feel. its simply reaper olive green skin ontop a basecoat of red then highlighted slightly with brown carapace. hope this helps :bouncy:

Thats a cool colour scheme, (I also love Tyranids) I was looking at the carapace and it reminded me of a brown african millipede, very nice.

I am looking to have a more vivid/hot look for my Kroot hounds though...

kind of like these, do you have any suggestions for pulling this off, ie: what colours to use, on what parts of the hound? :)

And what would people suggest for the hounds \"spines\"?

see... now thats a tricky one.... perosnaly id go with a blend from green to yellow or yellow to green for the skin then use the chipping method (like tyranid carapace) to go from blue to red or red to blue with the spikes... it wont be easy and personaly i dont think that will \"look proper\" however but give it a shot!

I\'m thinking about doing the quills, porcipine style, black n white.

I am getting worried about all the colours though, too much going on maybe?

I may chicken out and just paint them a couple of colours red/blue being faves.

Hmmm, I\'ll have to think about this and try looking at some more bird/dinosaur/lizard pics.

look at pictures of tropical lizards... the bird is a good idea how ever those colours on a mini would clash and not look right. lizards tend to have few colours and so should work well with your mini
