Hi There,
This is actually the first video of yours I have watched after I only just registered with this website today to get back into painting. I have taken a huge amount of time off of painting in comparison to you. (around 2 years or so) I dont feel my skill would have got any worse but it obviously hasn't got any better. I also thought I was the only one that would paint something and think it was a piece of crap. It doesnt matter how good someone tells me what Iv'e created is... I always think it sucks. This follows through into other hobbys too (I keep poison dart frogs and create live planted set ups) Everyone tells me it looks beautiful but I hate it.
Having a sit and putting some thought into why I feel this way is probably because I spend so much time looking at professionals online. When I want to look at miniatures I look on CoolMini and see all of the pros banging out long projects that are absolutely out of this world. (This also carries on to my live planting Dart Frog Vivariums) I always look on dendroboard.com and look at the best of the best..
I dont know if you do this too? While great for inspiration I think it raises our expectations of ourselves and when it does not look like the pictures you browse on the internet you feel like your model/ or whatever it is you have created is not good enough. Looking at your skill in your video you have already surpassed many painters. (thats no knock to them so no offence). I think you should keep all of the models you are not particularly impressed with. Put this on a shelf where you see them every day and improve on these models and learn from them.
And it also seems I could learn from my own advice

.
This is how I feel and I thought I should perhaps share my thoughts with you.
Regards,
Liam
