Painting White hair help/discussion

I am thinking of painting some white hair on a mini I am doing for a buddy. I've never painted white hair before (I'm talking white-white, not old timer grey/white here) and wondering if anyone has some tips or experiences they'd like to share. TY!

like a white blond? if it's pure white, it still needs to be shaded with something so either go for a blue-grey or a sandy colour

I would do this one of two ways. First, undercoat in a light colour and then carefully shadow it - don't be temped to go too dark anywhere - before layering on straight white for the highlights. Second, undercoat the entire thing in pure white, then shade carefully.

With true whites I think it's generally best to strive for neutral-grey shadowing, but taste prevails here and if you want to go brownish (i.e. something like beige) or blueish then that can work too. Just need to be careful to keep enough white showing so that it's clear that the item is white, not brown or blue with extreme highlights (kinda like leaving enough black on black items, so that it 'reads' as black and not the highlight colours with dark shading).

It's like feathers. It requires some shading, but looks odd with too high a contrast. Just a dot of whatever you select to shade it with (a blue-grey, or yellow-brown) mixed with a goood dollop of white should do the trick.

If it isn't for an old time lack of pigment white hair, I would go for a white-blond.
I'd start with a Bleached Bone(GW) or Menoth White base(P3) and work it up to white from there.
