Painting Woodlands Scenic Water and Realister Water

Hey folks!

Can you paint on scenic and realistic water? I know the back of the bottle says that you paint under it, then apply the \'epoxy\' stuff but I\'m curious if you can actually paint on it. Does it need to be primed or can you just paint on it?

I\'ll find out tomorrow when the stuff is dry I guess, but one thing I\'m doing is trying to simulate a big pool of blood, and then paint over it. The other thing I\'m trying is to make a wave of water and that will require a good bit of paint as the height will be an issue color wise (if I was to paint underneath it).

I would have thought that by painting over it you would lose any effect you would have gained by using it in the first place and this being the case you might as well save some money and use a cheap modeling resin or other type of resin rather than waste the decent stuff.

well...

I tried painting and putting inks onto dried water effects...it doesn\'t stay too well...it did, but if touched too much came off. I primed it and it was fine.

Not the effect I wanted, but couldn\'t achieve what i wanted...

I wanted to mix ink with it before it tried to make a see thru look but water effects is like white glue, so didn\'t appear to work too well.

paint what you want to be water on the base itselfe then then the paint dries use LOTS of high gloss... they also make stuff u just pour into the recessed area or ontop that hardens as a clear gloss.... 24 hr cure time however but gives best results... u can also mix in inks with some gloss

as for painting ontop of the stuff... not sure... i dont know why you would tho... if its for a wave ripple i have seen hot glue used

Got around to answering my own question today when I painted my Ogre Butchers gore bucket. Paints just fine, though it takes a few coats, and it didn\'t rub off too easily, even when I tried as a \'practice\'.

I can just see you walking round randomly rubbing painted surfaces and answering when challenged by people looking on in wonderment........\"It\'s just practice!\" lol
