Painting wraithbone/bone

I\'m currently painting my Eldar (or trying to) and have attempted several times to paint their weapons as the cream/light brown shaded wraithbone look.

My problem is that is ends up looking old & dirty and more like an undead/been buried in the ground, instead of the clean look I want. Any tips on painting this type of stuff. I\'m guessing that bone is similar just that would be the more \"dirty\" look I\'m getting. Is my wash screwing it up?

How do some of you wonderful people go about layering and building up the highlights & shading on your own work?

i play eldar too...here are some tips i can give to you:
1)don\'t use inks or washes like chestnut or flesh wash the first is too dark and the second too yellow. if you need to use a ink or wash prefer a watered brown like bestial brown or a lighter brown and apply it only in the crevasses
2)use beached bone highlighted with white for the main color
3)if you want apply a layer of glossy varnish to make the wraithbone more \"alien\"

For the brownish bone look I use Vallejo Tan Earth and blend up to Iraqui sand, then adding white. Alternatively, for a more morbid look, add Dark Yellow to only a little Tan Earth... this is good for skeletons, I dunno about Eldar. Alternativly, start with a light blue and highlight up to white.
