Paints that coat the best when thinned.

Hello,

I am sure we all hate dealing with paints that do not coat and stick to our minis well which is why I made this topic. I would like people to post which paints, from any manufacturer, have the best coverage when made very dilute - more than 3:1, wateraint. Also list any paint that you find troublesome.

i have diliuted paints by up to 6-1 from most manufacteres, it\'s just a case of getting used to which colours from which ranges work best with certain dilutions.

I find almost all reputable companies paints ok. I\'ve had a lot of P3 split after adding a lot of water though (notable the lighter colours) and some Vallejo (annoyingly the ones I wanted to use like Intermediate Blue).

AG: I think you need to relax a little about painting and enjoy it more. I\'m similar in the fact I want to be able to blend like Automaton, JBT etc but it just doesn\'t work the same lol. I think you\'re a decent painter, and with time and practice you\'ll get there. Enjoy your hobby!

Most of the mini paints should dlute 3:1 ok.

Brand doesn\'t make much difference with the below, they tend to always be reliably opaque:
Titanium White
Mars Black
Mars Yellow/Yellow Oxide
Red Oxide
Chromium Oxide Green
Chrome Titanium Oxide

In some brands the following are pretty good:
Burnt Umber
Cadmium reds
Cadmium yellows (by the standards of yellows)

I don\'t find semitransparent or transparent paints troublesome; as long as you know which colours these are and use them appropriately their lack of coverage isn\'t much of an issue.
