hi all

i just notice today that some paints that i don´t use a lot are a bit dry, what do you guys do to keep your paints well perserved?

i joined water but i don´t know if it is the best product to keep them in shape

Water\'s fine. It is mostly what is evaporating from your paint I think anyway, so you\'re just replacing it.

The main thing you need to do is make sure the paint pot is sealed tight when you\'re done with it. If you use those cruddy GW paint pots you are in for a treat dealing with those crappy lids.

I agree, hard water is no good for paints, although I think even filtered water should do the trick

I use water with a drop of detergent. Helps if the paint has big lumpy bits.

Thanks for the tip, Ogrebane. I know most people like big lumpy bits on their minis, but not in their paints! ;)

Doesn\'t that create suds in your paint?
Not with the dilution I use, a couple of drops of dish detergent to a quart (liter) of water. Then only a drop or two to the paint at a time. It is just enough to help break surface tension, but not enough to really suds up the mix.

Another aid, I add a lead airgun pellet to the Citidel jars to aid in mixing as well. Reaper paints already have a little lead skull in the bottom.

You can also get acrylic retarder from most art stores. The main point of it is to keep your paints from drying, so it\'d probably help in the pots, too. Course, your paints would take longer to dry on your mini, also, which isn\'t necessarily good...

I had about thirteen nurgling bases - now my pots are full with cut up nurglings.
