Likewise, think they\'re a pound or two, just toss one when it gets tired.

Also have to say my thumbnail gets a fair bit of use. ;)

I went to the hardware store and picked up a nice white, glazed ceramic tile that is about 4x6 for less than a buck and it works great. You have plenty of room to mix on, and if it gets too gunked up you can takea razr blade o it and it\'s good as new. The white also lets you see your colors well and, as long as you don\'t drop it, it\'s quite durable.

I mix paint on a ceramic tile or Perspex, using a painting knife mostly (I don\'t use hobby paints so mine are much thicker usually).

Then I transfer to a homemade stay-wet palette.

A white ceramic tile.

But I also have several \"recessed well\" pallettes for very fluid wash mixes. They do have a tendancy to save my denims from a multi-coloured bath now and again.

Never used a wet-pallette, but then again I can\'t wet blend.

CD-Roms.
My Dad had the habit to collect CD-Roms he doesn\'t need - AOL giveaways, failed burns, the CD\'s that come with magazines, ... giving me a virtually endless supply.

Cheapo waxy coated paper catering plates. No need to wash, just chuck them when the dried paint is too mountainous to use any longer :D

if you use a tile, pore boiling kettle water on the tile it loosens the paint then oyu can just scrape of with rough side of sponge

A 12 well porcelain palette at home and a 7 well flower palette on the road. Both clean up fairly well and keep the paint where it should be.

That said, a ceramic tile works fairly well too, though the paints dry out faster.
