Hi! After advice i'm starting a plog.
I have my first DA tactical in progress and i need another advice.
I imagined the light source in front and a little over the model and i highlighted it this way in front, but what with the back of the mini? i can't just leave it untouched...

If you do post some pictures it would make it much more easy for us to give you some good advice, also what level you want to achive, tabletop or competition level or something else...

Ok, here it is, as you can guess perhaps i'm painting armor right now, the back is painted in catachan green so the darkest green you can see in front. The question from first post is still valid.
I'm advancing in learning to paint, so i aim to put max effort on every single mini.

The start is not bad at all... Often people use zenithal lighting, means it comes from the top with a slight angle form the side which make it a bit more interesting light source. So the front and back are painted the same way. Also try to use a slightly darker color for bottom parts but some edges highlight can be the same. It will give a different atmosphere and less flat mini. You will find a lot on internet about this topic.
Then your paint seems smooth and precise, you can try to post some close-up to see how it looks like.

Thanx for reply. I finished the 1st of tacticals. Decided to stay with front source light as i never did that before. I'm pleased with result but i need much more practice. The front i tried to paint with life color scheme and the back with a bit darker, dull scheme. On next mini i'll try to use blending for highlights.
Ok, here we go, please comment

I don't have normal camera here so no close ups with the cellphone:)

If your light source is coming from the front then the highlights on the backs of the legs are a bit bright eg backs of boot and knees look pretty blue but bolter on the front seems much darker. Overall though painting looks smooth and you seem to be doing a pretty good job. Nice work

The gun was meant to have darker color then legs, but You're right, ill put a wash over it and see how it turns out, thanx.

The result is good! The weapon is missing extreme highlight, you need to add small touch of metallic paint (i.e. Mithril silver) on the edges.
A complete army with this standard will pop up and look really good!
One last point, what's happen to your pictures? you have a sort of lighter halo around the marine...

Yeah, it's how my stupid camera focuses on something:/ my goal is to make every marine better then previous one. And i need to practice the nmm. We will see how the last tactical will look.

That's a good way of proceeding... I did the same on my ogre army. I improve speed and quality, especially by posting WIP and getting advice from user. You will progress after few months if you paint regularly... Normally a WIP will keep you on track and should motivate you!
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask particular questions about problems you encounter!
Happy painting...

He looks really good to me. I love the purple lenses, you don't see that very often. Also love the way you did the grill/mouth area. I do not like the sword on the shoulder pad. It screams "grey knight nemesis weapon". Sorry that's what pops in my head when i see it.

And how would You propose to paint it like? For me it was first attempt on nmm as i really have a strong urge to learn it.
P.s i love Your signature lol:) though for me its paint flavoured cola in most cases:D

Is there any method to make whole skin lighter? I painted a marauder sking with like 6 layers but it turned out to dark. I don't want to go over it again.
