Paper Terrain?

Got to say some of that stuff looks great for my games of No Limits but there\'s the issue of transporting it to the club without squishing the models.

Iv downloaded freebies and bought several different kits, the maginot fire base kit is cool, but its just not quite the right scale i need to adjust the PDFs to make them slightly larger. they can be made to be stronger and heavier by using decent card, good glue, layering techniques and by glueing weights into them. They are a major hobby on there own and I think the main problem is most people who havnt got on well with them is because they expected a quick fix for building gaming terrain but the reality is far from that. i like to do both but i do prefer proper 3d terrain.

Scott il be up for a big terrain splurge in the new year iv got some big plans for Home made modular boards making use of scratch built and GW buildings (maybe even a few pegasus hobbies buildings to) but im notoriously lazy when it comes to scenery building :D

love the printable terrain, but what I\'ve become a secret addict to is Hurst Arts kits off ebay. That way I don\'t have to own the molds and mess with the plaster, just order a large baggie of bricks. Add some white glue and a bit of cheap paint and wheeeee.

I love those things! The sense of joy when you open the package and see all those hundreds of bricks... hundreds of possibilities... Love them!!!

Really? To be honest, the reason I\'ve stayed away is because of the mess of the plaster. I\'ll have to check into that. Thanks Airhead!

I remember Finn always referred to Hirst blocks as Lego for grownups....

Hirst Arts is fantastic! I have about 30 moulds and the mess isn\'t quite as bad as you\'d think after you\'ve got the hang of mixing the right amount of plaster. I\'ll see if I can sort out some pics of the stuff I\'ve made.

I have a combination of paper, scratchbuilt and Hirst Arts terrain.

Each has it\'s place.

I like cardstock for a lot of the accessory pieces since I can make as many as I want.

I\'m able to work up cardstock in a fairly short period of time and everyone in my games knows to treat my terrain with kindness. Terrain abuse means I don\'t bring it any more. At all. And depending on the game it can get you kicked out as well. Don\'t break other people\'s toys.

I\'v read the entire building set for zombies!!! board game has been drawn up and released online, and one person made the buildings out of wood then glued the printed card on, with removable roofs for putting the figures inside.

I\'d love to get it and make an entire set of buildings for the game, but the cost, time and space required would be monumental.

Plus I don\'t really play the game that much!

Peace and love...

These are a few of the pics I can dig up. Most of the finished bits are at the club and I\'ve got no photos of them.

Here\'s the Egyptian temple gate:

And a tomb I made for a Khemri Warhammer Quest set up:

Something else for the club:

If you don\'t want the mess you can build virtual models using Google Sketchup. Just do a search for HA blocks. Here\'s a model of a local church I knocked up. I think someone else actually went and built it using this as a guide.

My only beef with Hirst Arts is the weight of the blocks. Most of the terrain I build gets transported around for big games and tournies and stuff and hauling 16-20 tables worth of hirst arts stuff can piss a guy off in a hurry! Beauty stuff though, and nice work UnDave!
