While I echo your sentiment for the victims and their families, I cannot echo the second part.
what I would hope is for rational thought to replace the fundamentalism and the rest of their lives spent with the realisation and guilt fof their acts.

Granting a quick death just helps the mindset of fundamentalists and makes them martyrs in other likeminded people's eyes.

For me to further disagree with you here would shift the focus away from the OPs original message, which was one of peace and sympathy. So, despite my strong emotions, I choose instead to concentrate on our mutual pursuit for peace and understanding. Same end states generated through different means.

In light of what happened france did pretty well the raid was a bit botched on the market but as far as i'm aware it was a snap choice to go in so the plan went out the window. Just lucky the guy wasn't also a bomber.
