Wow, some really great single figs in that lot. Jeremie\'s piece turned out great, like we all expected The Dwarf Slayer (Sword winner, unless my French is worse than I thought) is really awesome, lots of suggested movement and energy which is hard to get in a naked dwarf

No, quite frankly no. It is the paintwork that counts the most. It is more to the fact that the top-painters all like to convert/sculpt. Creativity doesn\'t mean you have to sculpt the entire model. Just look at the last UK slayersword (unconverted), UK Open winner 2006 (unconverted), the giant of this compo etc. But it\'s rare that people don\'t modify their minis because it is often a part of the creative process.

Yup, some amazing stuff there, but these 3 bug me for some reason.
I cannot fault the painting skill in this one or any of these 3 but the face is totaly wrong for me. Looks more of a characature/cartoon painting. GW are already accused of of cartoony minis but this one is off the scale. Not my cup of tea.
Now this guy is either constipated or has just smellet the foulest bad air imaginable, this is not the problem. The problem is the tonallity of the face, whats with the greyness, is he a zombi?
Again, amazing mini and a superb paint job. But yet again the face just says no to me and yet again its the greyness, even more so than the one above, this one looks like he should be a vampire.
I know this is probably just me but im having real problems with french painted skin tones and faces in general.
Anyone else notice this?

Pretty! I love all of it especially the demonsword winner (obviously) and the sigmer priest. Had a good look at the dioramas, I suspect we could see them again in September at the UK GD (with minor conversions).

All the models were quite phenomenal, but i didn\'t like the face of the bust (i agree not all soldiers will look grizzled and rough) but it just looks odd, great skill though.
And the warrior priests stance looks a bit funny, i dont want to seem a bigot but it seems quite a camp pose, lovely sculpt though.
I love the slayer sword winner, the model has copious amounts of detail. I also love Jeremie\'s entry, the chancellor a great scratchbuild.
I agree though at times it does seem daunting to those who may not be as good at sculpting and modelling, someone mentioned that the it wasn\'t and said about the slayer sword winner being a standard model, it wasn\'t the UK GD it was this years spanish one, the slayer sword winner at the last Uk Gd was automatans scratchbuilt skaven model. It is a in theory a painting competition BUT many of the placed models will be converted/re-modelled in someway.
