Parker Pens

Any of you use parker pens, i just bought one today for $20. I must say it is excellent, especially the gel ink, and it is light as well. Usually i would buy $3 pens, but i decided to get a parker pen, and it\'s excellent. I mean there are more expensive parker pens with much more design than my one, but my one aitn bad either. Also it has lifetime warranty, how good is that.
What are your comments and opinions, if you have or have used it before.
Cheers.

Use a Sheaffer Fountain Pen myself - I have 2 of them - One fine point for signing things, and one with a bit wider point for letters and such.

Yeah, Parker has good pens, though if you are not talking about the fountain pens it\'s the metal cartridge that gives the writing quality. So, if it\'s only the quality you\'re after it\'s you can do as I do and go for the cheapest holder (that\'s the jotter I think) and non-Parker holders that takes the same cartridge. I have about four holder so I can use different colours and inks. Just make sure that the refills are either Parker (fairly expensive) or if you can find a good quality, a cartridge from a different brand.
As to fountainpens, they are quite good too.

True. But to me there is just something about a fountain pen that isnt there with any form of ball point pen.

alas, being left handed and one of those who hooks their hand when they write, the result of me writing with a fountain pen is an inky smudge across the page and an ink covered hand!

love to be able to, though (and those twisted nib lefthander fountain pens don\'t work with my style of writing)

I picked up a 1960s Mont Blanc fountain pen a while back and it\'s wonderful to write with. I\'m a bit of a sucker for quality pens to be honest (I also have a 1920s Parker Duofold which is as good as new). I also use Rotring fountain pens on a daily basis and they are superb.

There is a certain something about writing with a fountain pen which forces me to try to improve my writing.
I have a very small writing script when I use a Ball point pen which is embarrasingly illegible.

And yes Parker pens are good but there are much better, Sheaffer, Mont Blanc (lucky fella that Beelzebrush). I used to use a Paper Mate ball point, but they no longer seem to be made.

My favorite pen is the Pilot G-2 .05

In preparation for the bar exam I bought every pen in the drug store and tried it out to figure which one I would be most comfortable writing for 6 hours straight with. Pilot won. The ink is a gel mix and flows well and dries quickly without bleading and the .05 is a pretty fine point.

ooooh pens....!

Ok I\'ll admit it...I\'m a pen freak :( Since an early age I\'ve had an unhealthy interest in stationery and pens in particular! I hate to think how many Parker pens I\'ve had (and still do) - however my current favourite is a Shaeffer fountain pen.

@Beelzebrush - you have a mont blanc and a Parker Duofold?!?! Nice!! Maybe I will own one of those....one day  I too have Rotring pens - uber cool looking and nice to write with.

*excited squeal* gosh there are just so many other pens I love but are too numerous to mention. Funnily enough, despite talking about all these expensive pens, when all else fails, I absolutely love Bic Crystal biros. You just can\'t beat them lol

Ah yes, I forgot about Rotring this morning. I have a Rotring ballpoint which uses the same type of cartridge as parker. I found the Rotring cartridge to be much nicer to write with. Tooshy, do you know any stores in London where you can buy those cartridges? There is none here and the pen has a parker cartridge right now. :(

Actually, I mean Rotring refills. made by Rotring, not Parker. They are of the same type as Parker but they feel smoother than the Parkers. I got my Rotring in a competition but I\'ve yet to see their refills in a store.

@Minimaker:
I\'m sure that there are a couple of Suppliers in the North East of England close to where my dad lives.
I can arrange him to get some and bring them with us when we go to Salute if you want.
Let me know which Model you need them for.

Too true. Another left-hander here so I battle with fancy ink products (though I\'m not a hook merchant like Orb - I write with my hand below the text :D). The old Crystal Biro is legendary. What a great little pen.

I have a Parker ball point and it\'s heavy. It seems to write under its own weight at times and I have trouble reining it in lol

Still, a thread dedicated to pens is the weirdest thing I\'ve EVER read on this site ;)

D\'oh! Sorry misread you there! WH Smiths actually sell Rotring - at least my local store does :D So it may still be worth checking. But if all else fails...maybe \'The Reach\' can bring some to Salute as he suggested ;)

@Rev - I\'ve been waiting all my life for this thread  ;)

i tend to use a parker rollerball for everyday work. i would use bics (calm down rev and tooshy!) but i\'d end up looksing the cap and have lines down my white shirt pocket!

as for fountains, i have a mont blanc (a 21st birthday gift) but i prefer an old parker 35 that i have
