I\'m all for people paying their fair share in taxes......not sure how that partnership would really help them address the real problems of the tax code...

Why don\'t they stop worrying about crap like that and streamline the whole system?

My guess is that a fair number of people make a living by selling goods and services getting paid through Paypal. So, I hardly find it surprising! We\'ll probably see the same thing in other countries as well sooner or later.

Hey SV. (And others of course) I have a funny story about taxes. And it’s true too. I had a friend in Mobile who the mean people at work called the Rich Girl. Anyway, one day she was complaining. It seems that Bill Clinton and his damned taxes took half of the money her father earned that year. I was shocked, so I asked the rude question of how much did he make that year. She says, \"He made two million dollars.\" I nearly fainted. I would love to have to live off of 1 million dollars a year. Of course I would have to cut back on this extravagant life style I have now. lol

Quot from the article:

\"A federal court in San Jose, Calif., gave the I.R.S. permission to ask PayPal for information on American taxpayers who have bank accounts, credit cards or debit cards issued by financial institutions in more than 30 countries that are reputed to be tax havens.\"

So the IRS considers PayPal to be a country?

I think they mean that Paypal is used to send money to accounts off shore, then people max their credit card anf pay it off from the account. You could in theory move thousands of dollars without paying a single dime in taxes. My card only allows me to make for payments a month. I guess that is their way of keeping me from doing that. But if I had the money, I could pay myself $4000 a month tax free.
